The Wellsmart–JDC Nigeria Integrated Power and Data-Centre Programme
- Wellsmart Energy Limited is developing an integrated power and data-centre programme in Southern Nigeria.
- The programme is advancing toward a planned 2029 opening.
- It is designed around a 55 MW total facility load, dedicated modular N+1 on-site generation and a carrier-neutral, Tier III-targeted data-centre campus developed through JDC (Nigeria) SPV Ltd.
- Wellsmart is the controlling sponsor and intended developer of the dedicated energy platform behind the campus.
- Specialist data-centre, connectivity, technical and commercial partners will contribute the design, certification, customer-development and operating capabilities required for delivery.
Designed around modular N+1 on-site generation for continuous mission-critical operation.

55 MW Facility Platform
JDC Nigeria Digital Infrastructure
The energy platform, electrical backbone and data-centre campus are being developed as one coordinated programme.
The full common infrastructure is designed around the 55 MW facility platform from inception, while internal data-centre capacity can be activated in modules as customer demand is contracted.
This structure gives the project unified sponsor control, aligned engineering and delivery, coordinated commercial structuring, clearer interface management, modular activation of customer capacity and a direct link between the energy platform and the facility it is designed to serve.
Experience Across the Physical Project Chain
The programme combines major disciplines: civil works, energy infrastructure, power generation, project development, digital-infrastructure design and long-term operations.
Sir Charles Nwankwo's background spans most of the project's core physical and commercial workstreams.
Major Civil Works and EPC Exposure
His professional background includes experience with Julius Berger, giving him direct exposure to the standards, discipline and coordination required for large civil and infrastructure projects.
Drilling and Upstream Understanding
Through a separate sister company, Wellsmart Drilling, he has built practical knowledge of drilling, oilfield execution and the upstream environment from which Nigeria's gas-to-energy opportunity originates.
Energy and Infrastructure Development
Through Wellsmart Energy, he leads the development of gas-powered independent power, hybrid resilience systems and dedicated energy platforms for large industrial and digital projects.
Specialist Data-Centre Partnership
The project's specialist partners provide the focused capability that sits outside Wellsmart's core role: data-centre design, Tier certification, connectivity, customer acquisition and continuing facility operations.
"Wellsmart brings sponsor leadership, civil-works understanding, upstream knowledge, energy-platform development and project-development capability. Specialist partners bring the data-centre expertise. Together, they cover the full delivery chain."
Built for Delivery
Integrated from the Start
Fuel-supply development, energy infrastructure, generation, resilience and the customer facility are designed around one another rather than assembled as disconnected workstreams.
Sponsor-Led Control
Wellsmart coordinates commercial structuring, energy infrastructure, major contracts, technical partners and stakeholder relationships under one sponsor-led programme.
Modular, Not Small
The backbone is designed for full scale. Capacity is then activated in commercially sensible modules without repeatedly rebuilding the common infrastructure.
Specialist Partners Where They Matter
Wellsmart leads the energy and project-development platform. Experienced specialist partners lead data-centre design, certification, connectivity, customer development and operations.
Long-Term Infrastructure
The programme is structured around assets and contracts intended to support dependable operation over decades, not a short-term power solution.
Sir Charles Nwankwo is a Nigerian oil, gas, energy and infrastructure entrepreneur whose career spans major civil works, drilling, upstream operations and energy-project development.
His professional background includes experience with Julius Berger, where he gained exposure to large-scale civil construction, engineering coordination and disciplined project execution. He later built deeper oilfield and upstream experience through Wellsmart Drilling, the sister company to Wellsmart Energy Limited.
Through Wellsmart Energy, Sir Charles now leads the development of gas-powered independent power projects, hybrid energy systems and dedicated energy platforms for large industrial and digital infrastructure.
He is the principal sponsor of the Wellsmart–JDC Nigeria integrated power and data-centre programme in Southern Nigeria, with opening planned for 2029.
His role covers the project's core sponsor responsibilities: energy strategy, fuel-supply engagement, infrastructure development, commercial structuring, EPC and OEM coordination, government engagement and the assembly of specialist operating partners.
This breadth gives the project experienced leadership across most of its physical delivery chain. Specialist data-centre partners provide the facility design, certification, connectivity, commercial and operating expertise required to complete the platform.
Energy Built for Digital Infrastructure
- JDC (Nigeria) SPV Ltd is the customer-facing data-centre company within the integrated programme.
- Wellsmart holds the controlling interest and leads development of the dedicated energy and resilience platform behind the campus.
- JDC Nigeria's specialist partners will lead data-centre design, certification, connectivity, customer development and operations.
- The campus is being designed to serve cloud, enterprise, government, carrier, content, disaster-recovery and AI-ready workloads from Southern Nigeria.
Building with the Right Partners
Wellsmart is engaging institutions and technical counterparties across fuel-supply development, gas infrastructure, modular on-site generation, electrical systems, resilience technology, data-centre engineering, connectivity, operations, commercial structuring and institutional customer development.
"We are interested in partnerships that bring real delivery capability, technology, customers or long-term operating value."
